Preventing the Pets from Fleas

Apart from that at times pets can be affected by pests they are a good companion and most people love to keep them in their homes. The pests that affect these pets depend on the season and the place a person lives. Fleas are some of the pests that will affect the pets and can actually be a big problem. Fleas can be a concern all year long in warmer climates. They are usually a concern for the pets and the family healthy. The pests can give a person together with their pets a resting time in colder climates but that does not mean that they will not be back. During the warmer season they will actually be back since they will always for their next homes during such times.

Caused by fleas are a lot of health concerns for the pets and they include; flea allergy dermatitis, anemia and many more. A very common disease in pets such as cats and dogs is flea allergy dermatitis and it is associated with flea bites. In the pets the skin disease causes a lot of itching and scratching which in turn leads to hair loss. Anemia on the other hand is also associated with flea bites. Weariness, pale skin, chills and shortness of breath can be signs of anemia in an animal. During peak seasons, a lasting impact towards the animals’ health and happiness can be achieved by avoiding the pet from full infestation from the fleas maybe. Noticeable skin problems such as hair loss, hot spots and rashes can be the signs that one’s pet has flea infestation. This can be caused by the saliva from fleas if the pet suffers from serious allergic reactions. Usually this is a common sign of fleas in any animal.

On the fur or the skin of the animal flea dirt can result to black peppered spots. Flea waste and blood that develops as the pests sucks blood out of the pets combination is the flea dirt. Flea dirt will leave a brownish-red stain if one passes a moist towel over it and therefore if a person is not sure whether the spots are flea dirt they can pass a moist towel over it. That an animal is infested with fleas the other sign is excessive chewing and scratching. On the animals an itching sensation is caused by the saliva that is secreted by the fleas which results to a lot of scratching. Injuries can be caused on the skin of the animal by scratching hence wounds and also flea allergy dermatitis can be caused and other secondary bacterial infections because of the open wounds.
