Learning to dive can be fun. With proper training a person can safely navigate in open water without fear. Key Largo Dive Center offers scuba diving instruction for beginners, as well as experienced divers who are looking for higher levels of certification.
Learn the Basics
Scuba diving for the first time can seem intimidating, but with basic instruction it can soon turn into a favorite pastime. For people who aren’t interested in obtaining certification, completion of a beginner course can have participants learning underwater techniques in a pool in the morning, followed by supervised diving around the reefs in the afternoon. Dive instructors take course members from the pool to the ocean in just one day. During the afternoon dives, the scuba instructors swim along with the class members in case any issues come up. Once participants gets their feet wet, it’s hard to get them out of the water when it’s time to head back to shore.
Open Water Diver Certification
After participating in an initial scuba diving class the desire to move forward may be strong. Getting out of the pool and gaining more experience in open water can build confidence, while developing the necessary skills that will allow an individual to dive without supervision at some point. At the center, students pursuing open water diver certification will receive in-depth instruction that will include 6 dives with an instructor in open water, although only 4 dives are necessary to complete ones certification. More diving time equals stronger skills and a higher level of confidence for the students.
See What’s Below
The best part of learning how to scuba dive is seeing the magnificent marine life that lives below the waves. The ocean is home to all kinds of aquatic creatures, many of which call the Molasses Reef their home. Nurse sharks, crabs, shrimp, eels and lobsters can be seen living in and around the reef. Schools of fish also frequent the waters and offer divers an up close and personal encounter unlike any other. Scuba diving opens up a whole new world that can’t be seen from above.
Depending on skill level, there are many package deals that include snorkeling and scuba diving in them. What might start out as just a vacation adventure, may turn into a hobby for life.
